Lasting Legacy—5 Lessons From the Life of Luis Palauনমুনা
Not my will, but Yours be done.
Who does your life belong to? If you have given your life to Jesus, you have become a new creation, and the Bible says in Galatians 2:20 that it is no longer you who live but Christ that lives in you. He is the one who gives us breath and fills us with His Holy Spirit. He has redeemed us from death, and we are glad to offer Him our lives in love, devotion, and worship.
But… that means we must do what He asks us to do with our lives? Yes. Will He ask us to do things we don’t feel prepared for? Probably, but we can rest in knowing His strength, not our own, will carry us. Will He use our lives in ways far beyond what we could imagine? Yes. His power can do far more than what we are capable of doing.
Is your life surrendered to Jesus today? Or is your relationship with God held at arm’s length by the limits of what feels comfortable and safe? Will you pray a dangerous prayer today, as Luis Palau did? Will you ask God to decrease your own will and increase His will in your life? Will you ask Him to use your life however He chooses—for His glory?
True, He might answer that prayer by challenging you in ways you don’t like. But you can also count on Him to deal gently and lovingly with you. Afraid as we may be, our hearts and whole lives are held securely in God’s capable, caring hands. We can trust that His plans for us are good!
Let’s pray together:
Lord, I give You my whole life. Everything I have is Yours. Not my will, but Yours be done. Please, God, use my life to glorify You. I pray You would shine in me so many people would see how wonderful You are. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
