Raising Spiritually Healthy Childrenনমুনা
Planting Seeds of Faith
As a parent, you have the significant responsibility and privilege to defend, shape, and invest in the next generation. Succeeding requires playing an active role in your child’s spiritual development. No job tops it in importance or satisfaction.
Still, no other job feels as intimidating! Knowing you have stewardship of your children's physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being gives any loving parent pause. It can often feel “above your pay grade”—you might not feel equipped to do it well. Your kids will probably learn to mutter at the dog like you do, set their shoulders like you do, or complain about work like you do. But they’ll also learn to bow their head in prayer like you do! There is good news: the seeds you plant now in your child’s life will bear fruit . . . even if you don’t see it just yet.
Teach your children right from wrong, and when they are grown they will still do right.
Proverbs 22:6 (CEV)
God chose your child for your family. He knows everything about you and knew your weaknesses before you became a parent. He knows the challenges of parenting. With God, you are enough. With him, you and your children can grow in the Lord. Be encouraged! God will bless your efforts to lead your children. Stick with it—day by day, hour by hour. The seeds you plant and water now will blossom strong faith in your child’s life.
PRAY
Lord, thank you for being intimately involved in our lives. Thank you for my children. Help me to teach them about you. Amen.
