MESSIAH Part Oneনমুনা
From Handel’s Messiah -
20. Aria
He shall feed His flock like a shepherd;
and He shall gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom, and gently lead those that are with young. Isaiah 40: 11
Come unto Him, all ye that labour, come unto Him that are heavy laden, and He will give you rest.
Take his yoke upon you, and learn of Him, for He is meek and lowly of heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Matthew 11: 28-29
21. Chorus
His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. Matthew 11: 30
Devotion: Christ is the good Shepherd; he shows tender care for young converts, weak believers, and those of a sorrowful spirit. By his word he requires no more service, and by his providence he inflicts no more trouble than he will strengthen them for. Isaiah 40:11
Our Savior has invited all that labor and are heavy-laden to come unto him. He alone gives this invitation; men come to him, when, feeling their guilt and misery, and believing his love and power to help, they seek him in fervent prayer.
Thus it is the duty and interest of weary and heavy-laden sinners, to come to Jesus Christ. This is the gospel call; whoever will, let him come. All who thus come will receive rest as Christ’s gift and obtain peace and comfort in their hearts. Matthew 11 28-30
