Uncommon Loveনমুনা
Forgiveness of Sin
Our world is quick to point out our faults and failings. If we are honest, we can be just as critical! We know where we fall short and where we let ourselves and others down. We are no strangers to our weaknesses.
Today’s scripture shows a community of people who were calling out a woman caught at her lowest point. They bring her to Jesus to make a spectacle of her. Jesus stoops down and begins to write on the ground. The Bible doesn’t tell us what He wrote, but commentaries suggest that perhaps He was writing the sins of her accusers in the sand, or maybe their names. And then He says, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” One by one, the crowd disappears.
We are all broken and in need of a Saviour. That’s where Jesus comes in. He is our Saviour. He removes our sin from us as far as the east is from the west, and He remembers it no more.
It is an uncommon love that beckons us forward into freedom. That cancels our debt and releases us to live free from the shackles of sin. That is the love of our God.
Daily Prayer
God, today we thank you for your forgiveness. Thank you for not leaving us in our sin but calling us forward into freedom. Help me to better understand your forgiveness today.
About this Plan
