When getting to know someone, one of the most important things we can do is pay attention to the details. These can be small things, like what is their favorite coffee drink? What makes them laugh, but also, what are the things in life that make them cry? What are the millions of little details that together make up a big part of their personality? Knowing these things can help strengthen a relationship over time. The more you get to know someone, the more you tend to care about them. Relationships, both romantic and platonic, take effort and time.

Our relationship with Jesus should be no different. When we ask Jesus into our hearts and lives, we’re truly only at the start of what our relationship with Him could be. Over time, as we spend time with Jesus in both the reading of the Word and in prayer, our knowledge of who He is and what He has done for us will only continue to grow. Just as you would schedule some time with a friend or spouse, take the time to schedule a morning or afternoon with God. You could spend some time in nature admiring His creation, read a book that gives more insight into some aspects of Jesus you didn’t know, or spend some time in your Bible each day, letting the Scriptures show you the details of who Jesus has always been and will continue to be.
