Day 4 - Faith leads others to Christ.
Yesterday, we looked at Acts 3 and we discussed the way Peter acted upon the faith that had been given to him by the Holy Spirit. Today, we are going to look at Acts 4. The main focus of today’s devotion is the way others reacted to seeing the miracle that took place because of Peter’s faith.
“And as they [Peter and John] were speaking to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them, greatly annoyed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.” [Acts 4:1-3, ESV]
The miracle that took place in Acts 3 caused such a problem with the authorities that Peter and John were thrown in jail. Despite their best attempt, the authorities were unable to stop the effect of the miracle that the people had just witnessed. Verse 4 is a perfect example of why we must act when the Holy Spirit prompts us.
“But many of those who had heard the word believed, and the number of the men came to about five thousand.” [Acts 4:4, ESV]
Because of the faith that Peter and John showed, the number of new converts grew to reach “about five thousand”. While our faith may seem inconsequential, there is more to the gift of faith than what we can understand. I am a devout Christian, yet I am always amazed when I see God do something miraculous. Can you imagine how much more surprised I would be if I did not believe in God? Your faith can change countless lives, draw many to Christ, and save many souls. As Christians, we have a duty to serve the Lord and to do whatever we can to save the lost. We all need Jesus, and there are many people who have not heard the Good News, so we must be diligent in preaching the gospel to all nations.
REFLECTION:
- What are some ways that you can show your faith to others?
- Have you ever seen somebody come to know Christ after you showed them the love of Christ?
- How do you think others will be affected by what God has called you to do?

About this Plan
Faith is more than just the ability to believe, it is what empowers us to do what God has called us to do. Faith produces good works, it allows us to receive wisdom from God, and it gives us the boldness to do things that most would be afraid to do. You are invited to join us as we look at some of the ways that faith fuels us to do what God has called us to do.
