[Uniqueness of Christ] Jesus’ Unique Recordনমুনা
Look, I Am Coming Soon!
We all have gone through the experience of a farewell, whether through finishing a school cycle, saying goodbye to a relationship, the death of a loved one, moving to another city, switching to another job, or something as simple as the end of a party or vacation. When something wonderful or enjoyable comes to an end, it often leaves a feeling of emptiness.
After Jesus died, His disciples did not know what was to come. They didn't even remember the words Jesus spoke to them about His resurrection, and they thought it was all over. Peter even tried to go back to his old job. The Pharisees and governors of the time desired the memory of Jesus to just wither and disappear.
However, that was not to be. Death did not finish with Jesus; He came back to life on the third day. Jesus conquered death; For forty days, He manifested to more than five hundred people so that all those who believed in Him could have the certainty that He was, and is, alive!
When Jesus returned to heaven, the people who followed Him were not left with the uneasy feeling of a farewell. Instead, they were filled with hope and certainty of His imminent return through the Holy Spirit, Whom Jesus described as "Another just like Me," being that the Father, Him, and the Holy Spirit are one.
So, the wonderful experience of knowing Jesus does not end with His death for our sins, for He is still alive, and His Spirit lives in our hearts. The Holy Spirit is the very proof of His promised return.
Soon, He will return for His church. The promise of His return is another of the events we find in Jesus' record that makes it unique beyond words.
And Jesus' return will be amazing. Every eye will see Him come back, reigning with His followers and rewarding His believers. His return will be unexpected, like the flash of lightning or the coming of a thief in the night. As such, we are invited to pay attention to the signs of the times, as we do not know the precise moment of His return. One thing we can be certain of is that He will!
So, let us live each day for Him with all our hearts in holiness, fulfilling the Great Commission He left us so that all may know Him. Let us establish the kingdom of heaven on earth while we await His return.
Thank you, Jesus, for Your promise to return, for we have the certainty that we will be with You again and reign with You forever!
