The Face of Transformation

DAY 6 OF 7

Day 6 - Devotional

Jacob’s journey of faith doesn’t stop with him. It’s meant to be passed on to the next generation, as it was passed down from Abraham and Isaac and to him. And Jacob had a son he especially loved named Joseph. Like a rose growing in the concrete, Joseph rose to the ranks to become the leader of the household for one of the highest-ranking officials in Egypt. Was it his hard work ethic, or a connection that he had at the top, or just by chance that it all seemed to work out well? Not quite. The Lord was with Joseph.

What if the things you’ve seen and experienced, and the people you’ve come across in your life aren’t just a random throw of the dice, but a thoughtfully designed puzzle that is put together by thousands of tiny pieces? Some of them are more colorful and vibrant, others may seem dull and pointless. But all of them come together to create this amazing work of art!

That’s a completely different perspective. That is exactly a God’s eye view of your life. Listen to what is said about our lives:

"For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Eph. 2:10)

The original word for handiwork is poiema, which is where the English word poem is derived. Think about that for a second. You are God’s poem!

Questions to ponder:

Who can you “pass down” your faith to?

How does seeing your life as God’s poem change your perspective of your past, and looking to the future?

About this Plan

The Face of Transformation

Hebrews 11 highlights many of the heroes of the Bible, including Jacob. The deeper you dig into Jacob's life, you begin to see that he’s a mess. But what if the people in the Bible aren't just heroes to imitate, but people to walk with on their own journey of faith? Let’s walk through the life of Jacob, and see his life transformed by the grace of God.
