Keys to a Powerful Prayer Life a 4-Day Plan by Joy Oguntimeinনমুনা
Key 1: Pray For The Impossible
Read: 1 Kings 17:17-24
Have you ever been in an intense, distressful, and heartbreaking situation with no idea what to do? This is where Elijah finds himself in 1 Kings 17:17-24. A widow who had previously opened her home to him brings her dead son to Elijah. At this time in human history, there are no quick tip Instagram posts on CPR or TikTok videos on how to respond to a medical crisis. Yet Elijah knew what to do. He knew to call on God. Elijah prayed and stretched himself out over the boy three times. He called on God with faith to believe God would answer this daring and audacious request: “God, my God, put breath back into this boy’s body!” He prayed for the seemingly impossible, and God answered.
Want a powerful prayerful life? Then pray for the impossible. Bring every need to the Lord, knowing there’s nothing too hard for Him. God has unlimited power and strength. No matter how discouraging and hopeless the circumstance may seem, God invites us to pray bold, confident, courageous prayers over every aspect of our life – our family, health, career, church, community, and government.
Now, we may not see the exact result that Elijah did, but it doesn’t negate the reality that God answers prayers and God has resurrection power. If we do not receive the impossible for which we ask, it is not because our prayers didn’t “work.” Instead, it may be that God is answering our prayers in ways we are not expecting. For example, you may be praying for a job promotion or a new job. God may answer your prayer by taking you through a challenging path that leads you to start your own business. Or you may be praying for a spouse, and God is answering your prayer by giving you the gift of community until it is time for you to receive the gift of your spouse. Don’t be discouraged if God does not answer your prayer the way you want. Remember, prayer always works, and God always responds with His best for our lives.
Bring every impossible-looking situation to the God for whom nothing is impossible. His power is unlimited, and His compassion never fails. The same God who heard and answered Elijah hears and answers us too!
Pray: Heavenly Father, I praise You for Your power and majesty. I bring my impossible need to You and ask for Your supernatural intervention. Thank You for all You’ve done and will do! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
