Infinitum Family Advent, Week 3

DAY 2 OF 5

Yesterday we talked about ‘receiving’ Jesus (or welcoming Him) into our hearts & that idea can kind of blow your mind. But Jesus teaches us another mind-bending idea that has to do with the room we have in our hearts…Jesus tells us that whatever we do to people, it’s as if it’s been done to Him. Uhhhh, how does THAT work?!

We don’t know! But, in a way, it kinda makes sense…when God created humans, He put a little of Himself into each of us. So when I tell you how incredible you are, maybe Jesus feels that warm, glowing feeling too. But even if we can’t fully explain it, Jesus tells us this is how it works between humans.

You know what could be the ULTIMATE Christmas?! If Jesus was your house guest for the holiday. Hello! Wouldn’t it be so fantastic to look back on this Christmas knowing that Jesus came into your home and you welcomed/received Him with the best you had to offer? Your best attitude, your best honour to the spirit of Christmas, your best present idea, maybe you gave up your bed, so there was somewhere for Him to sleep?

Jesus said, “Whoever welcomes one of these little children of Mine, welcomes me.” But He also doesn’t seem to require us to do big, flashy things. He tells a story to His followers about what pleases Him & the examples were things like giving someone a glass of water, sharing your coat with someone who might be cold, and encouraging someone who’s having a hard time.

So when you think about how you could welcome or host Jesus this Christmas by welcoming or treating other people, what are some SIMPLE ways you might do that?
