Daily Prayers for My Husband

DAY 14 OF 21

TAKE TIME FOR SELF‑CARE

[Jesus] said to [the apostles], “Come away by yourselves to a remote place and rest for a while.” For many people were coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. So they went away in the boat by themselves to a remote place. MARK 6:31–32 CSB

On an aircraft, safety measures are given before takeoff. In the event of an emergency, parents are instructed to put their oxygen masks on first before helping their child put on theirs. At first this seems backward—it’s only natural to want to help the helpless first. But looking at the bigger picture, if a father passes out while helping his child, neither one might survive. But if he helps himself first, he is then strong and able to help others. This is also true for a husband, whether he’s a father or not. Because he can get spread so thin with constant demands, he must make time to rest and care for himself in order to be strong and lead his family in the best possible way. Jesus demonstrated as much for those closest to Him. It matters to Him that we take care of ourselves.

Lord, please open the gates to a peace‑filled place for my husband to stop everything and be still. Part the pages of his calendar to make room for respite and rejuvenation, and show me how to help him make this happen sooner rather than later. You know him better than anyone, and You know the perfect surrounding that will take him away from the demands that swirl in his mind. Create the circumstances that allow him time alone to escape and be filled with peace. Show me what I can do to help, and I will do it. You know how much I love him and how I want the very best for his mind, body, and spirit. I love You, Lord, and ask Your blessing of rest on him now.IN JESUS’ NAME. AMEN.

About this Plan

Daily Prayers for My Husband

Whether you’ve been married for five minutes or fifty years, one of the most loving things you can do to strengthen and protect your marriage is to pray. Your husband needs your prayer support to encourage and empower him to be the man God created him to be and equip him to take on life's daily challenges. As you pray, you'll be inspired to express your love and care for him in new and meaningful ways.
