The Mountains Are Callingনমুনা
Peace in Any Season
Day and night alike belong to You; You made the starlight and the sun. All nature is within Your hands; You make the summer and the winter too.
PSALM 74:16–17 TLB
Some of the seasons we go through in life are more challenging to our peace than others. During the long “winters” it can seem like God is silent and the answers we’re waiting for are frozen in time. It’s harder to find our joy in the darkness, even though we know our strength is bound to it. We want to see the snow peaks melt and the mountains move.
C. S. Lewis wisely wrote, “God’s presence is not the same as the feeling of God’s presence and He may be doing most for us when we think He is doing least”. * Our confidence, hope, and peace in the long, difficult seasons of our journey are rooted in trust. God doesn’t leave us for a moment, even when it feels like He’s distant. God uses every single day of our life to prepare us for what’s ahead. Through any season, struggle, or circumstance, the foundation of trusting God is knowing we’re loved by God—completely, unconditionally, irrevocably loved. We can’t run from it, and nothing can change it. He loves us with a love that He’ll never retract or reconsider. And love always does what is best. It’s at work in our lives right now, no matter what we see or how we feel.
Today’s peace is brought to us by God’s love and the faith we have in it! In a world filled with uncertainty and darkness, we can be the light that brings the hope. We know God’s love is here, actively working in our lives and seeking a place in every heart. The seasons, all of nature, and every moment of our lives are in God’s hands—wrapped in the most powerful, purposeful love in the universe.
Dear God, Even in the tough seasons of my life, I trust You completely. Give me peace in Your presence and the love that’s shaping every outcome.
