Catechism: For Real?নমুনা
God demonstrated his great love for us through Jesus, and when we choose to follow him, we begin our new identity belonging in his family as God’s child. Nothing can ever change, shake, weaken, or destroy that belonging. He chose us and adopted us into his family. Our identity as a child of God rests in his faithfulness and goodness.
Even though we know this, we still struggle with sin and go back to defining ourselves according to our mistakes and failures or what we like or do, not God’s love. We need help, and God gives us that help through his personal, active presence in our lives - the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit comforts us in times of need and guides us into God’s truth.
The moment we choose to follow Jesus, God’s personal presence begins to work in our hearts and lives. With the power of the Holy Spirit, we are able to walk confidently in the truth that our identity rests in God. We’re free to live life confidently and boldly by his power working in us.
“Who am I?” and “How can I know?” aren’t unsettled questions anymore. They have established truths we can build our life upon.
Read: John 14:16-19; Romans 8:14-17; 1 John 4:4
Consider: In what ways does the Holy Spirit help us? What difference should the Holy Spirit make in the way we live?
Reflect: Is there an area of your life where you want to walk in victory over your sin and struggles?
