The Good Lifeনমুনা
One day, when Jesus was out teaching, a very rich man came up to Him and asked Him what he needed to do to have eternal life. The man and Jesus talked about how the man had lived—the man had lived rightly. Scripture then says, “Jesus looked at him and loved him. ‘One thing you lack,’ he said. ‘Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” (Mark 10:21). The rich, young man heard Jesus’ answer, but he left the conversation sad because he had a lot of wealth and he didn’t want to give it to the poor. What a sad, sad situation. Jesus doesn’t require giving away wealth for salvation, He just knew riches had a hold on this man’s heart, and He wanted him to find true riches—the good life. Assuming the man didn’t go and give his things away, the man was saying, “I’d rather have my things for the next few years than treasures that will last for all eternity. I’d rather have these things right now than You forever.” This man likely regretted this decision for all eternity. Lord, help us to see treasures as You see them. May we learn from the rich, young man and become rich in Your eyes.
