Moments for Mums: When We Make Mistakes – Part 2নমুনা
There are times in life that hit us unexpectedly. A few years ago, after a personal loss, I found myself in deep despair, and through the grief, I believed that God was punishing me for every mistake I had made as a mum. The weight of believing that God was tracking every mistake I made throughout the days; the times I lost my patience, the times I didn’t act in love, the times I said something hurtful. That weight nearly squashed me.
At some point, I opened the word and landed on these words. There wasn’t instant freedom from the weight of my mistakes. Grief and loss are a journey, but I wrote the words of Romans 8 onto a piece of paper and stuck it to my fridge. Slowly, I began to believe that I wasn’t under condemnation for my mistakes. I began to believe that my mistakes weren’t recorded, and my loss wasn’t punishment. I began to believe that my belief in Jesus Christ had given me a life-giving Spirit – not a life with a weight that I couldn’t carry.
Question
Do you live in the life-giving Spirit of Jesus Christ or under the weight of your mistakes?
Prayer
Jesus, I am weak and make mistakes, but I choose to trust that there is no condemnation in you. Thank you for the freedom you offer. Amen.
