Seven Facets of Salvation

DAY 1 OF 7

Salvation is Needed Because of the Predicament of Sin

God did not design people to need salvation. Genesis 1:27-31 says we were made in His image, He blessed us, and that everything He made was very good. That is how we, and the world, were originally created. Then Adam and Eve let Lucifer (disguised as a snake) deceive them, and when they questioned God’s wisdom by their disobedience, sin entered all of the world (Genesis 3:1-7). As descendants of Adam and Eve, we all fell under a curse and became alienated from God.

God is absolutely holy, pure, and perfect in every way and cannot allow sin into His presence.

Ephesians 2:1-3 says, “As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.”

Psalm 103:15-16 describes it this way, “The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. Romans 3:23 says, “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Sin is not a little thing. It is worse than the most horrible cancer and spreads the same way. The entire creation was ruined, as Romans 8:21-22 declares: “the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time”.

And so now we have decaying bodies and death. We endure pain and weeds and creatures like insects and other pests that attack us. The second law of thermodynamics came into effect; in a closed system, everything loses energy and decays. Evolutionists want us to believe that we are evolving to a higher level, but all around us, we see the opposite; we are devolving and decaying. Without God’s direct intervention, this is a hopeless future.

Reflection: God is greater than any force of decay in this world. His promise for us is life eternal with Him, a future of being in His presence, if only we acknowledge that we are indeed unable to save ourselves and turn to Him in trusting faith. We need to have no fear of His authority over creation. Why? Reflect on Ephesians 2:4-5 and join us tomorrow.
