Know the Power of I Am

DAY 5 OF 7

With God, you are able.

At fourteen, my grandmother Corita Marie Simmons was kicked by a mule. Due to improper care of the injury to her right arm, the doctors resulted in cutting it off. She had to learn everything that once was at ease with her right arm, now with her left. She learned to write again, cook and clean with one arm. This injury resulted in her being labeled disabled and handicapped. Most people would have seen this as defeat, but not my granny.

She went on to marry and give birth to 10 children, with 8 of them being girls! She combed hair, sewed clothes for her children, mowed the lawn, painted rooms in her house, gardened, and even became known as the neighborhood babysitter. My grandmother did many things, but the one thing she never did during her 85 years of life, was accept the label of disabled and handicapped.

When I would ask how she could do so much, she would reply, “Where I lack, God makes up. Where I am weak, He is strong. With Him, I am able to do anything.” My grandmother was the epitome of strength and the walking definition of being able to do anything. She had the skill, power, and proficiency to do anything she put her mind to, and so do you!

Repeat this Affirmation:

I Am Able

I am able because God makes up anything I lack. I am made whole through Him. I can be used to do immeasurably more than I could ever think. I possess the power, intelligence, proficiency, and skill to do ANYTHING required of me. Whenever I doubt, I will rely on the promises of God which share "I can do all things through Christ, who gives me strength." I am willing. I am skillful, and I am able.

About this Plan

Know the Power of I Am

Proverbs 18:21 teaches that "death and life are in the power of the tongue" (NKJB). Some of the most powerful words we speak are those we choose to put after "I Am." What we say after stating "I Am" will affect the trajectory of our lives. This devotional will teach you how to speak with authority while understanding your identity in Christ and not the world.
