Year of the Bible: Part Six of Twelve

DAY 10 OF 30

Hezekiah's Secrets for Success in Life and Leadership

Hezekiah was 25 years old, and the Bible compliments him, saying, "there was none like him among all the kings of Judah after him, nor among those who were before him." So, what can we learn from his way of life?

• He put God first and was zealous for God to be the only one worshiped.

• He did what was right in the eyes of God.

• He trusted in the Lord. "Trust" in Hebrew ( בָּטַח bâṭach, baw-takh') meaning to hide (to go quickly) for refuge, to trust, be confident or sure:—be bold (confident, secure, sure), put confidence, (make to) hope, to lay down securely.

• He held fast to the Lord. The word "to hold fast" in the Hebrew ( דָּבַק dâbaq, daw-bak') means to cling or adhere; figuratively, to catch by pursuit:—abide fast, cleave (fast together), follow close (hard after), be joined (together), keep (fast), overtake, pursue hard, stick, take.

• The Lord was with or toward him and caused him to prosper by giving him wisdom, prudence, skill, and understanding.

Question: What does it look like for you to "cling" to the Lord during this season in which you find yourself?

Prayer: Pray for God to reveal how faithful and worthy of trust He is, and pray for the ability to abide in His love and know His presence continually.
