Wild Prayersনমুনা
THE MOST IMPORTANT INGREDIENT OF WILD PRAYERS
If we were to have a conversation with any prayer warrior, we would come to understand that to build a lifestyle of wild and deep fellowship with God – ‘Consistency is key.’ Consistent communion with the Father is the wild habit that our lives need today. Here are some pointers for developing a consistent prayer life:
- Make prayer your priority
Let us consider the life of Daniel. Daniel was in one of the most influential positions of his day. He had a high pressure job, had to deal with kings, and the entire nation was under his control. To add to this, he had people plotting against him. Yet, in the midst of all of these responsibilities, Daniel prioritized his prayer life. Daniel’s life teaches us that a consistent prayer life involves a specific time, a specific place and a specific routine. His consistent prayer life was the weapon that he wielded in the face of life’s challenges. People who have a vibrant life put God at the top of their scale of preference.
- Stick to a schedule:
Acts 3:1KJV says, “Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer.” Having an ‘hour of prayer’ will help us develop a consistent prayer life. It’s important to set up a particular time of the day for prayer and be determined to stick to it. It’s advisable to choose a realistic time when we’re less likely to be distracted so we can have quality time to pray.
- Choose an accountability partner
A prayer partner can be the best ally that we can have in building a strong prayer life. Meeting up for coffee each week to talk about each other’s prayer lives or catching up over a call or a text about each other’s prayer schedule can really go a long way in building a consistent prayer life.
- Use reminders:
When we are building a new habit, we need to keep reminding ourselves about it all day. We’ve got to place reminders on our belongings, our homes, and our workspaces so that our environment prods us to pray. We may fail to stay consistent once in a while. We all go through seasons where our prayer life falls off track. Let’s not get discouraged in those instances but keep at it! Successful people do regularly what others do occasionally.
Reflection time:
1. When can you schedule your quiet time with God?
2. What are the potential distractors that may hinder you from spending quality time with God, and how can you tackle them?
3. Make a list of prayer points that you can pray in your quiet time with God.
Have a little chat about all that you have written down with God.
