I Can Make a Difference

DAY 3 OF 3

Read Together

What’s the same about someone who needs a friend, someone who gets hurt, and a baby who’s crying?

Those are people who need help—and they are times when you get to make a difference! Jesus served people who needed help, and you can too! When you choose to help others and serve them, you set an example of what Jesus’ love looks like.

Talk Together

  • What do you think it means to serve someone?
  • What is your favorite thing to do to serve others?
  • How do you think other people feel when you serve them?

Focus Together

Do this focus activity as a family so your child can repeat it on their own when they face difficult situations.

  • Close your eyes and point to your mouth.
  • Say, "God made my mouth to make a difference."
  • Repeat as often as you like, pointing to a different part of your body each time. Examples: mind, hands, feet, heart, eyes, etc.

Study Together

Read today's Bible verses as a family. Talk about how they can help you remember this truth: I can make a difference.

Have Fun Together

  • Talk about simple things your family would like to do to serve others. Examples: make art or write notes to cheer people up; give away some toys or books; pick up trash; help someone do chores at their house; buy or make a gift for someone; help babysit for someone; talk to a pastor at church to find ways to help; visit someone; etc.
  • Pray together. Ask God to help you pick one or two of the things to do as a family—and do them!
  • If you’d like, share your experience on social media and tag the #LCParents community.
