Developing a Great Prayer Life

DAY 7 OF 7

If you are unsure of where to begin, this is a small template you can follow when you are praying:

1. Start with thanksgiving. Thank Him for what He has done.

2. Praise God for who He is, His name, promises, and character.

3. Confess your sins. Ask the Lord to examine your heart. If nothing comes to mind, I like to use the Ten Commandments because I want the light of the law of God to examine my heart, so that my heart is purified.

4. After you confess your sins, ask God for what you need. Talk about what you’re going through, about appointments, or the pressures you currently face. You can also ask for healing, finances, marriage, future goals, and dreams. Trust God enough to tell Him your needs. Keep in mind, though, that this is not the only thing that prayer consists of; prayer is about His presence, not simply about petitions. The quality of your prayer determines and reveals the quality of your relationship with God. When you give God your petitions, He will give you His peace, and sometimes His peace is all that you need. Even when God does not give you all the answers, He will give you His presence, always.

5. When you pray, you can also intercede. Intercession has three components: praying with someone, praying for someone, and praying against something.

6. Also, you can take some time to pray in tongues.

Make prayer habitual, consistent, and regular in your life. Stick with prayer until you develop that Christian discipline so that God can release His grace, strength, and anointing in your life.

Let's Pray:

Heavenly Father, I pray that you would help me as I draw near to You in prayer. Holy Spirit, guide me and teach me to pray. In Jesus' name, I pray, amen.

About this Plan

Developing a Great Prayer Life

Every Christian is supposed to live a life of prayer. As many men of God have talked about in the past, those who sin are often those who have stopped praying; prayer is the one thing that chokes out the sin in our hearts. Learn how to develop your prayer life according to what the Bible teaches so you can live a life of victory in Christ.
