Switch: How To Follow Jesusনমুনা
A New You
Picture this: you get a new cell phone. Obviously, you can’t wait to use it. So, you take it to school without a case. #courage
As you close your locker for the last time, the phone manages to fly out of your hand and onto the tile. #brokenscreen #nooooo #whyme
After you get your phone fixed, you’re probably going to take the time to get a case and be a little more careful, right? You don’t want to go through that mess again. The same can be said with the way you learn to view sin after becoming a Christ follower.
When you believe in Jesus, you’re saying to God, “I realize I’m broken, unable to save myself, and I want Jesus to lead my life instead.” When you believe in Jesus, everything changes. Before knowing Him, you didn’t think twice before sinning. As a Christ follower, you’re aware of sin and realize it doesn’t honor God. It really bothers a follower of Christ when they make those choices they shouldn’t. Do you know that feeling? God helps you become aware of sin. That awareness helps guide you in the choices you make.
It’s not always easy to give up those choices. Bad habits can be incredibly tough to break. But here’s what’s awesome—Jesus died on the cross and conquered sin. The Bible tells us we are no longer slaves to sin. You can overcome any unhealthy habit with Jesus’ help. When you believe, in Him, your old self is gone. You’re brand new, and the new you has awareness of sin. Just like that fixed cell phone, you can stay away from sin and avoid those things that harm you and don’t honor God.
Is there a sin in your life that’s been tough to break? Spend some time in prayer asking God to help you conquer those sins that have been holding you back from knowing Him more.
