Mourning into Joy
“Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy.” – Psalm 126:5
Replacing our tears for joy is power. We read about how the Lord has done great things and has restored us (Psalm 126:3-4). The power we find is God making all things new. He makes all things good and provides nourishment to the hungry heart. Even to the steadfast soul, God supplies all of our needs (Philippians 4:19).
We put our hope in the Lord because of His unfailing love (Psalm 130:6). As we do, we find that our fears turn into faith, our weaknesses become strong, and our hearts are restored by His blessed assurance (Psalm 34:4; Matthew 7:7).
Isn’t He better than our earthly fathers, who knows what we need, even before we ask (Luke 11:11)? Let us seek the wisdom of God and be comforted by the One whom is wise (Proverbs 15:2).
Galatians 6:9 encourages us to not become weary in doing good as we will reap a harvest of righteousness. In the meantime, we sow to the Lord our hurt, pain, faults, needs, longings, and frailties. He then will grow us up together in Christ (Jeremiah 12:2; Colossians 1:10) so all is turned into songs of joy as we sing the mercies of His love and bring the sacrifice of praise (Psalm 107:22).
He is a God who truly turns every day and mourning into songs of joy (Psalm 30:11).
