Speak To My Heart, Jesusনমুনা
Words of Life
“Watch your mouth!”
Have you ever been chastised with that saying? What a reminder: we all need to watch what we say, how we say it, and who we say it to.
The words we utter have power; they elicit praise or condemnation, approval or disapproval, life or death.
If we show a lack of care to our words, we also show a lack of care towards people. We also run the risk of opening our mouths to foolish words, instead of allowing wisdom to rest on our lips (Proverbs 14:3).
If we give ourselves to gossip or putting down others, privately or publicly, we undermine our own integrity. We are to speak and listen in love, spread the truth, and not kindle the fires of discord and resentment.
Speaking and the use of our words can impact people and situations. Engage your mind in the process before you even speak a syllable. Filter it all through the Bible and as the Spirit of God directs you. Be intentional and not careless in your conversation.
God’s Word prepares us for “the day of judgment [when] people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." (Matthew 12:36-37)
"A careless word may kindle strife; a cruel word may wreck a life. A bitter word may hate still; a brutal word may smite and kill. A gracious word may smooth the way; a joyous word may light the day. A timely word may lessen stress; a loving word may heal and bless." ~Unknown
Once you speak, your words can never be retrieved. Measure them carefully before you utter them. Speak life to those you encounter.
