Through the Bible: Luke

DAY 6 OF 11

Light of the World

Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light, but when it is bad, your body is full of darkness. If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly bright, as when a lamp with its rays gives you light.
Luke 11:34, 36 (ESV)

When our children were young, Disney and Hollywood movies were on top of their list to watch during summertime. It was delightful to the eyes, full of fantasies and hi-tech effects, and brought good memories to their growing years.

Little did we know what they perceived at a young age twisted their thoughts to becoming very worldly over time. But thanks to Jesus, when their minds are renewed, and His Word cleanses their hearts upon their acceptance of Christ, they started to open their spiritual eyes and hearts to understand God’s righteousness. As Apostle Paul said, “you say ‘I have the right to do anything’ but not everything is beneficial. You say ‘I have the right to do anything’ but not everything is constructive.” (1 Corinthians 6:12)

Prayer

Oh Lord Jesus, thank You for Your grace and light to our children. May Your wondrous love keep wrapping our children’s children and many generations to come to glorify Your name, Amen.

About this Plan

Through the Bible: Luke

As the longest book in the New Testament, Luke makes the purpose of his writing clear at the beginning: to investigate and write an account of the Gospel. As a Gentile physician, Luke has deliberately recorded many healing miracles of Jesus and His care for the social outcasts. The Gospel is summarised in this proclamation of Jesus, “I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
