Resurrection Reflections: Three Ways to Celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ

DAY 3 OF 3

Pray for the salvation of souls daily

Jesus’s resurrection means life after death is guaranteed. However, the post-resurrection experience will be different for two groups of people—those who did good things and those who did evil things (John 5:28-29). We know that only those who possess the nature of God are good and capable of doing the type of good God requires (Mark 10:18; 3 John 1:11).

What God defines as “good” differs from what the world teaches and our natural perception of good. Consider the following exhortation in 1 Timothy 2:1-4:

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

That scripture highlights some of the “good things” we do not often think of—supplication, prayer, intercession, and giving thanks. Often, meeting the physical needs of others comes to mind when we think of doing “good things.” Rightly so, it is good to feed the poor and meet the physical needs of those in need (James 2:16; Matthew 25:35-36). Yet, we can do the greatest good in addition to meeting physical needs—saving souls from eternal damnation. And 1 Timothy 2:1-4 shows we can win souls with prayers, supplications, intercessions, and giving of thanks. So, let’s get started today.

Intercede for mercy and the conversion of those who work against the gospel. Pray for persecuted Christians to stay hopeful and not draw back from the faith. Pray for revival in nations. Be intentional about praying that many will come to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. When we practice 1 Timothy 2:1-4, we get to thank God for his mercies, do what pleases God, and provoke celebrations in heaven.

Luke 15:10 (AMP) says, “In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents [that is, changes his inner self—his old way of thinking, regrets past sins, lives his life in a way that proves repentance; and seeks God’s purpose for his life].”

Let’s celebrate the resurrection of Jesus daily by doing things that bring about the salvation of souls, accepting the help of the Holy Spirit, and living conscious of resurrection.
