Elevation Rhythm: Growing Pains Devotional

DAY 5 OF 5

FAKE LOVE DEVO

Lyrics

Never was enough till I met Ya

Got the real thing, found the real One

You can tell the world, keep the fake love

Cus I’ve been brand new since I woke up

Have you ever chased after “fake love”? It’s the kind of love that feels good in the moment, but ultimately doesn’t change anything.

Maybe you’ve had it for stuff (as if getting more things could make you happy).

Maybe you’ve had it for a person (as if someone else could fix the broken parts of you).

Maybe you’ve had it for status (as if achieving that goal is what you’ve been missing).

Stuff and success and relationships aren’t bad. In fact, they all have their own place and purpose. But what do we do when we’ve been chasing after fake love for so long, we don’t even know what the real thing feels like anymore?

How do we get real love?

The answer is simple: you already have it. Just take a look at what Romans 8 says:

“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:37-39

Nothing –– (can we repeat that?) –– NOTHING can separate us from the love of God.

That is real love. God has the kind of love that can’t be won or taken away, the kind of love that surpasses death, the kind of love that neither the future nor the past can mess with.

Fake love could never compare.

And when we accept His love (when we refuse to settle for the fake thing) we have access to all that comes with it: His peace and His strength. Are you ready to step into real love today?
