The Way of Kingsনমুনা
Continuing the Journey
In every great story, there is a moment when the hero makes a choice—a choice to go back to a comfortable and safe place or take the road less traveled. The choice to step into the great story can be scary. It will entail pain, struggle, and fighting but ultimately bring about triumph, meaning, and purpose.
Our Creator God has offered us a part in the grand story He is weaving through history. We have the opportunity to be part of bringing about a new kingdom and ruling it with Him: a kingdom of love, grace, beauty, strength, and redemption. But we live right now in a world filled with dominions of darkness, hate, anger, trauma, sadness, and destruction. So, we must follow God on this path that will be hard but great as we overcome the world’s darkness with light.
We must choose to take the path in front of us every day. May we be kings who follow God in all the big and small areas that compose the story we tell with our lives. For those willing to take the journey, the view of seeing yourself live into who you were created to be awaits as your reward.
To Consider, A King’s Oath:
I vow to live well into my calling of king.
To take seriously the responsibilities God the King of Kings has entrusted to me.
To better myself while serving others daily.
To love the unloved.
To stand up for goodness even when I stand alone.
To fight the battles both in the world and inside my head and heart for the goal of bringing God’s goodness and beauty to the world.
To protect the innocent while giving grace to the fallen.
To accept help when I need it and to give it when I am able.
To chase wisdom to deepen my mind and to catch wonder to deepen my soul.
To live confidently in the ways I know to be right while remaining humble enough to always be able to learn.
To act with honor in all my relationships and pursuits.
To use whatever power I might have or obtain for good.
To actively grow in mind, body, and relationship with my Creator.
I vow to follow in God’s footsteps to grow into the man and king He has created me to be.
Do you believe you were made to tell a great story? What are some things that might keep you from living the narrative God has for you? What do you need in order to say yes to the road before you?
