Surrender
A life of dedication to God requires sincere choices and self-knowledge. How can I commit my life to God? What do I have to give? Today is not only about listening to God, but also about surrendering to Him.
You may be asking yourself, “What can I do for God now? I am so small and insignificant, and the problems around me are so big and overwhelming.” Paul writes in Ephesians 2:10 (NIV), “For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” God often puts desires in our hearts that match the good works He has already prepared for us.
I, too, wrestled with these questions when I decided to get involved in the fight against poverty. What did I have to offer? I had no money at that time, I was a single mother of six young children and housebound. But I discovered that I loved words enormously. I didn't have much, but I did have words! I surrendered to God and said, “Here is my heart and my time and my words. Will You deploy them and use them in Your Kingdom?” You can count on it, that something will happen then.
Do you know the desires of your heart? What gives you joy and energy? Take time today to think about this. “God, here I am, with the desires and talents You’ve given me. I give them back to You, to be of service in Your kingdom.”
