Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.” —Isaiah 1:17 (NIV) ## REFLECT Isn’t it amazing how God has wired each of us differently? He made us on purpose and with a purpose. While we share similarities in many ways, He has also made us individuals with our talents, gifts, and passions that reflect the Lord’s image, heart, and character in unique ways. For some of us, it’s a desire to help orphans, the elderly, refugees, the poor, vulnerable children, and those who are oppressed and at risk. For others, it’s a passion for justice, discipleship, families, or evangelism. Is there a group of people your heart breaks for to know the love of Jesus? Ask the Lord today how He wants to use you to take up their cause and fight for them, to do right for them in His name. ## PRAY Lord, I thank You for Your mercy and Your heart for justice. Thank You that, through Christ, I am righteous and can seek justice, defend the oppressed, and advocate for the vulnerable. I pray You’ll spark a fire within me to seek justice for those around me. Please show me where I can serve You and how I can help those You love using the gifts You have given me. Amen. # FOR THE FAMILY ## DISCUSS 1. Have you ever been treated unfairly or seen someone else treated unfairly? What happened? 2. Why do you think God cares about others being treated badly? How can we be there for someone who may not be cared for by others? ## PRAY Lord, I thank You for Your mercy and Your heart for justice. I want to seek justice and defend those who are vulnerable. I pray You help me remember that serving is not only for grown-ups. We can all serve You and the people around us by being kind, giving our time and money to help, and praying for them. Help me to do this whenever I get the chance. Amen.
