This Is Living: 5 Days of Inspiration to Live Your Faithনমুনা
EAGLE-EYE VISION
I love eagles. I have a bronze eagle on my bookcase, a wooden eagle on my file cabinet, and I also have pictures of eagles. I’m not saying I picked my alma mater, Boston College, because they are the Eagles, but it may have helped me make my decision.
When my family and I visited Alaska, I learned even more about eagles. They are amazing birds. While in flight, they can spot a fish a mile away. Human beings have very good eyesight, but we could never see a fish in water like an eagle can. Their eyesight is eight times stronger than ours.
Just as impressive is what they do after they spot a fish. They can fly up to one hundred miles an hour to get their prey. Once they lock in, they are completely focused, and they act swiftly to capture their prey. When they lock their talons onto the fish, it is over. The eagle has won, and the fish is their food.
This is the reason we have the term “eagle-eye.” An eagle has vision and focus, and we need that in our lives. Focus is powerful.
It is a mathematical reality. Wherever force is focused, its power increases. This is why a laser is such a potent tool. Whether used in the field of manufacturing or medicine, lasers make life better because of their precision and power.
Have eagle-eyed focus today. Paul said in Philippians 3:14, I run toward the goal, so that I can win the prize of being called to heaven. Don’t allow distractions to keep you from what God has called you to do.
There are likely more distractions in our world than ever before. It is so easy to binge-watch hundreds of television programs or play hundreds of video games. We can spend countless hours on the Internet surfing an endless amount of content. There are very many other distractions as well.
However, it is focus that leads to impact. When we focus, we can accomplish so much more. We can actually see what others don’t see—and when we see it, we must act. Like the eagle, we need to go after our goal with speed and determination.
We miss out on too much in life when we are not focused. When we are not looking, opportunities can pass us by. Whenever we are distracted, there is the potential of overlooking exactly what we have been working for and waiting to see!
Stay focused and keep watching—and when you see it, act.
