Unleash Kingdom Relationshipsনমুনা
Value of Team
Relationships don’t just happen one-on-one. Our workplaces get more done through teams that work together. Working with a group of people can bring rich diversity of thought, ideas, skills, and abilities that lead to innovative ideas. At the same time, teams also introduce another level of relationship dynamics with different personalities, needs, and unspoken agendas that can lead to challenges.
Teams are part of God’s design. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 tells us we can accomplish greater things when we work together. Just as God works interdependently as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we are designed to work with one another, Christ being the Head. In 1 Corinthians 12:12-26, Paul illustrates that we are each designed by God with specific functions as parts of one body. The body only operates well when all the parts work together interdependently. In the same way, we are called to work together interdependently as members of the greater Body of Christ, and this includes in our workplaces.
How does knowing that God is the one who puts your teams together change how you view your team?
He has placed you where you are for a purpose and with the responsibility to build Kingdom relationships by valuing the gifts, skills, and contributions of each person on the team. You have the power to influence the culture by expressing appreciation for each team member and proactively providing encouragement and support so everyone can give their best.
True success is only possible when we work together honoring our diverse perspectives. Jesus prayed for unity among us, that we may be one just as he is one with the Father. That level of unity not only allows people to see and know the love of Christ operating in your work, it’s also bound to elevate the quality and impact of the work you produce. You and I have an opportunity to help the people we work with every day see Jesus by valuing the team.
What can you do to value each person on the team and model that behavior for others?
How can you encourage greater unity on your team?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me see the people on my team through your eyes and value each person. Help me know how to encourage them and model working interdependently together. May people come to see and know you through the unity I encourage. Amen.
