Victor’s Crown
The Apostle Paul exhorts us to run the race of life to receive a ‘victor’s crown’. The eternal Word teaches us that because of our salvation by the imperishable blood of our imperishable Saviour, we shall receive an imperishable crown. How utterly amazing!
As God’s children, daily we’re enticed, even persuaded, to listen to the voice of another to meander onto the wide and broad path. To join the others where ‘life’ seems to appear easier. But don’t be fooled. Don’t let the enemy make you lose sight of the prize – Jesus – and forget that you aren’t running your race for a crown that will fade away, but for an incorruptible, imperishable, eternal ‘victor’s crown’.
Jesus wore a crown of thorns so that we might wear a crown of righteousness. We have complete and final victory, through our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the only One who gives and sustains life – who is truth and freedom. Today He shows us how to cast our cares upon Him – but one day we’ll join with the Saints, casting our crowns before His throne.
I’m praying that our hearts ignite with the fire to persevere and focus on our eternal glory and not this life. That we keep running as we remember our ‘light afflictions’ are for a season, whereas winning our ‘victor’s crown’ is forever.
