7 Truths of Marriage: How Two Become Oneনমুনা
Becoming Precise
The Wise and Foolish Builders
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. Matthew 7:24-25 (NIV)
Make no mistake about it; you have a 100% chance of succeeding in your marriage if you do it the way God designed it. His Word gives precise instruction, so there’s no guesswork needed. Two becoming one requires an intentionally precise effort from both of you. Precision isn’t the same as perfect. Only Jesus was perfect in His human form, but pursuing God’s will for our life and relationship should be based on the precision of seeking His will as it comes to living life.
Like a relational marksman, following God’s design for marriage as detailed in His Word is the only way to ensure precision in hitting the mark for the two of you becoming one amazing couple. It’s not uncommon for couples to try charting their course apart from the precise map God created for them. They will never reach the destination designed by the Designer without following His Word.
Be precise in your efforts to become one. Don’t waste time or energy exploring dead-end trails or vague efforts leading to vague outcomes. God’s straight pathway is the exact route to enjoying a blessed life of you two becoming one wonderful one!
Truth Talk:
Discuss common things in life that require precision. Cooking usually turns out better when the recipe is precisely followed. Keeping track of your finances requires attention to detail for keeping an accurate accounting of your money. Now, if preparing a meal and balancing a book requires precision, discuss how much more important understanding and following God’s Word is for your marriage.
