The Aetherlight Episode 2 Family Planনমুনা
Stranger in a Strange Land
In Jacob's time, gods were often considered local entities, responsible for their 'patch' or tribe. They might be associated with an idol or altar, and that's why people went there to 'meet' with their god in worship. Some religions and even some Christians still seem to work on this assumption. Jacob is a long way from home, and yet his God is not only present, but listening to the local people. How radical is that concept?
Something to think about while you are reading today’s passage:
God is not deaf to Rachel's and Leah's cries. Even though they engage in some dubious practices to achieve their ends, God has a bigger picture in mind as He responds to their distress. While they are trying to secure their place in the pecking order, He is securing something much more significant. How does Jesus' call to 'seek first the Kingdom' help us reframe our struggles and desires? How might God be responding to our pleas, in our contexts? Are there deeper purposes in them that He has for us?
Something to talk about with players of The Aetherlight:
When the Scarlet Man shows up on the Flying L, it's not for Julian's sake directly, but to talk to the two squabbling sisters, Lily and Rose. He's aware of their individual desires and the part they play in the bigger story of Aethasia. It might be a good point to talk about how God might be aware of our deepest needs and what part His purposes play in our lives.

About this Plan
The Aetherlight: Chronicles of the Resistance is an exciting new steampunk game with a difference - It's an allegory of God’s amazing story in Scripture! Episode 2 continues the story of the fledgling Resistance, and the call to restore Aethasia under the guidance of the Scarlet Man. These studies help players who have joined the Resistance tie the game and the Bible together so they can grow in their part in God's story.
