Mindfulness: Holding God and Your Newborn in Mind

DAY 3 OF 3

Being mindful of what God wants you to do with your anxiety or worries can help you overcome worries or anxious thoughts about your little one.

Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. Philippians 4:6 (AMP)

Anxiety may show up, but do not BE anxious. That is, do not let anxiety take over you. Be intentional about not living in a state of anxiety by choosing to talk to God in prayer and being thankful.

God does not want you to be a worrying parent. Those worries about your little one belong to God.

Are you worried about your milk supply? Talk to God about your milk supply.

Are you worried about choosing a nanny or child care center for your little one? Talk to God about it. Ask God for wisdom (James 1:5).

Are you worried about losing your little one? Thank God that you will not lose your little one. For example:  Insert your child’s name and say, “Heavenly Father, I thank you for satisfying _______ with long life, good health, and peace.” Practice thanking God daily for the good you desire and what he has done for you.

Perhaps you are anxious about the safety and future of your infant due to a pandemic, racism, child molestation, bullying, kidnapping, or child trafficking. Hold the words of your loving father in mind. You serve a good God who cares and loves your little one more than you do.

Holding on to negative thoughts leads to unhealthy actions. Holding on to God’s Word will help you make wise parenting decisions for your little one.

Instead of meditating on what the devil can do to harm your little one, make God’s Word the focus of your attention. Meditate on God’s Word concerning your little one. If you can, please read Psalm 127:3-5 out loud.

We hope this plan encouraged you.
