Our God Is ____ ?নমুনা
OUR GOD IS THE ANSWER
What an amazing picture these two verses depict.
Before I tell you what jumped out at me, why don’t you write out, even in scribbles or dot points, what came to mind when you read this. God speaks to each one. Be confident that you, through the filter of the Holy Spirit, hear from Him.
Ok, so first of all, I think of a win win. With jesus we win and.... we win. That’s good news right? I love that John says he’s writing so we don’t sin... but he writes when we do sin there is a way out. The only way out.
There is an answer for our sin. This is a win for us.
Can you remember a time when God turned around your mistake, your sin and turned it for good? I can. This is called Grace and it abounds to us.
Secondly, I see a picture and it is a heavenly court of law. We know that God is just and holy so sin must be dealt with. God doesn’t wink at sin.
Most translations use the word advocate in this verse to describe what Jesus does for us when we sin. TPT rightly says that Jesus is face to face with the Father. However the word Advocate is even stronger. When you do a word study of advocate we see it comes from the Greek word Paraclete: 1. One that pleads the cause of another legally, 2. An intercessor, 3. A helper
Thirdly, Jesus goes way beyond being some sort of top gun barrister, He actually is the means by which we the guilty are forgiven and put right legally. He takes the Guilty verdict on our behalf.
He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Fourthly, He does all this for those who know and love Him and for everyone else. Talk about inclusive. When I was an enemy of the cross, He showed me grace and mercy. What about you?
Reflection:
Does this scriptural picture of Jesus Christ as our advocate help to understand the balance of justice and mercy?
Is it easy to accept that you have been pronounced not guilty?
What do you think of the phrase we should “boldly come before the throne of Grace”?
Prayer:
Thank you Heavenly Father that you have given us Jesus who is the only answer to our sin problem that separates us from you.
Thank you that you tell us in your word that Jesus intercedes for us in your presence.
Thank you for the precious Holy Spirit who draws alongside us and comforts us in this time.

About this Plan
1 John is the first of three short letters written by the disciple John. 1 John is thought to have been written to the churches around Ephesus in around 90AD. In this short letter, we start to see and grasp the magnitude of God’s perfect character, and how much his love has radically been shown to us through Jesus. OUR GOD IS ____ ?
