Church: It’s Time to Get Off the Couch
Hebrews 10:24-25, "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near."
When the lockdown started, I contacted all my ministry clients and asked them if they were ready for people not to attend church in person for a while. There was always a pause or an elongated "I thiiiiink so" from the person I was speaking. We then had a conversation about their online virtual service plans and what needed to be planned for.
Little did any of us know even six months into 2021, in-person church attendance is down 30% across the country.
Some may still be waiting to feel safe; some may be physically unable to attend. But some may have just gotten used to watching service in PJs.
I would encourage everyone who has switched to an online-only experience to come back to church in person. You miss so much great fellowship with other believers when you stay home and watch online.
I know you and I may have gotten used to sleeping late on Sunday and watching the stream later in the day. But there is, as you can see by our focus verse, we are called to love one another and not neglect the meeting together...as is the habit of some. It sounds like the writer of Hebrews knew about the Covid-19 lockdown of 2020.
Not really; it seems not putting God first in our lives is old news.
Let's ReEngage with our church today!
Truth: It's way too easy to roll over in bed and not attend service when you only partake online. Another issue is that we tend to surf our phones more than listening to the sermon being preached. Ouch!
Grace: All your friends, the staff at your church, and God Himself wants you to come back to church. We miss your smiling face. We miss your friendship. We miss you!
When it comes down to it, if you can go to the mall, you can go to church. Double ouch!!
Uncommen Questions:
Have you have been staying home to "watch" church when you should be "going" to church?
If you are not going to church, you need to ask yourself why. Is there a reason you don't want to go? Pray that God reveals His will to you.
Uncommen Challenge:
I challenge you to get up this Sunday morning and go to church in person.

About this Plan
Even though it may not seem like it as we are trying to find our way in a pre/mid/post covid world, but we are STILL ON A MISSION—The Great Commission, that is. Our families, friends, work, church, and faith need us to reengage. We may be the only Jesus they see.
