Abraham, a Man Who Passed the Testনমুনা

Abraham, a Man Who Passed the Test

DAY 2 OF 3

In Genesis 22, we read that Abraham was told to offer up his son, Isaac, the one through whom the promise of his heritage would be fulfilled, as a sacrifice. God said, “Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you.”

This wasn’t a pop quiz; this was a major test. You’ll know when a test is major because it will call for something significant in your life to be addressed, and it might not even seem to make sense. When God is asking you to do something or be something or go somewhere you’ve never even considered, it’s a major exam.

This test left Abraham with a lot of questions: moral questions, theological questions, and relationship questions. What God was asking didn’t seem to make sense, and yet, Abraham did what God told him to do, and when the moment came, God spared Isaac. An angel said, “Do not stretch out your hand against the lad, and do nothing to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”

Abraham passed the test.

What kind of questions are holding you back from complete obedience? Can you trust God with them?

About this Plan

Abraham, a Man Who Passed the Test

Abraham was a man who found himself tested by God. By passing his various tests of faith, Abraham proved himself to be someone who fully trusted in God. Bestselling author Tony Evans reminds us that we will all be faced with tests, even if they are not as extreme as those Abraham went through. But as they did for him, so they offer us an opportunity for growth.
