Rewrite: A Marriage Devotional by Vance K. Jackson

DAY 3 OF 5

Who Touched Me?

In Mark 5:25–32 KJV, the woman with the issue of blood spent twelve years searching for a remedy to heal her internal condition—no one had the answer. No one had the solution. No one had the cure. Although the manifestation of her problem appeared on the outside, in the form of blood, she was seeking to solve an internal problem in a carnal way.

Maybe you’re like the woman with the issue of blood—maybe you’ve been searching for an answer to heal your heart. Maybe you’ve been searching for an answer to heal your marriage. Maybe you’re like this woman who had been searching for twelve years for a solution to heal her issue. Maybe, like this woman, you’ve been bleeding while you were searching for answers.

While this woman was searching, she was wounded. While she was searching, her emotional and financial resources were being drained. Maybe your marriage is bleeding on the inside. Maybe the outward manifestation of your problem is a symptom of a deeper hidden issue. Maybe it’s deeper. Maybe it’s spiritual.

According to Mark 5:27 KJV, when the woman heard that Jesus was passing by, she intentionally pressed her way through the crowds from behind. The crowds around Jesus were so dense that people could gain access to Him on every side. In fact, the crowds were so large and dense that the disciples could not keep track of who was touching Him.

In fact, when you read this text in its entirety, we uncover a hidden message in this woman’s brief encounter with Christ. Let’s examine the faith and emotional tenacity of this woman with the “issue of blood” as she pressed through the crowds and accessed Jesus.

According to Leviticus 15:19–31 KJV, under Levitical law, this woman with an “issue of blood” was considered “unclean.” An “unclean” woman had to follow a specific Levitical protocol outlined in Leviticus 15:19–31 KJV. In fact, she could not touch or come into contact with others. If she would touch anyone, that person would also be considered “unclean.” By Levitical law, she was ostracized and deemed an outcast.

But look at this woman’s faith! She was willing to press beyond the normal Levitical protocol of the day in order to be made whole. Sometimes, you have to press beyond the norm in order to get your healing. Sometimes, you have to press beyond the crowds in order to get your supernatural deliverance. Sometimes, you have to press beyond the external noise in order to get your internal healing. Sometimes, you have to be intentional and press beyond the gossip and rumors in order to get your breakthrough.

In the Name of Jesus, I pray that you press beyond the opinions of others and seek Christ for healing. Seek Christ for healing for your marriage. Seek Christ for healing for your family. Seek Christ to heal and transform your family’s bloodline. Choose to surrender to Christ. Let Christ make you whole.
