Insecure

DAY 15 OF 28

Inside Out

Saul received the call to be King with great insecurity. Even upon returning home from his encounter with Samuel the prophet, he did not share the important news that Samuel had anointed him to be the future King with his uncle. When the time finally came for Samuel to pronounce Saul King before the people, he was missing. Only when they inquired of the Lord, the Spirit of God revealed that Saul was hiding among the baggage.

On the exterior, Saul looked like the perfect King. When Samuel introduced him to the people, he pointed out his fine appearance, highlighting that he was a head taller than everyone, and there was no one among the people like him.

Sometimes we can encounter people in leadership who have excellent skills and talents but are still very insecure. Being the best in your field of work or the most prestigious in your circle of influence does not guarantee you will feel confident. When we mistakenly look for our security in what we accomplish or in what we have or do, we fail to recognize that our foundation should be in God.

Daily Challenge: Do you recall a time in your life where you knew you had the skills for the task before you but lacked the confidence to accomplish that task? Ask God to help you find your security in him, rather than seeing it in what you do.
