Progress Not Perfection
Wow! Can you believe you made it through this 31-day journey going through Proverbs?
I hope it has been a wonderful experience where you have grown in wisdom and discernment about the direction God has for your life.
If you’re like me, after wrestling through all this great wisdom and advice, you wonder, “‘How can I ever measure up to this incredible life that God has laid out in Proverbs?” Truthfully, it is a daunting task to try to live out everything found in Proverbs. Lucky for us, though, God doesn’t expect us to be perfect overnight. In fact, God cares much more about the progress we make than our ever attaining “perfection.”
Remember, we talked earlier about how Proverbs are principles for our lives and they are not promises that determine the outcome of our lives. This means that the Proverbs aren’t a checklist to check off; rather they are guideposts pointing us in the direction of the wisdom that God has for us to live out.
The journey of gaining wisdom is not a quick trip to Wal-Mart in order to pick up what we need. Rather, it is a long and treacherous voyage that comes to us where we are, and it leads us into a life beyond our wildest imagination.
As we journey on this voyage, we will never reach perfection, but the progress that we make toward wisdom will grow with us day by day.
Thank you for taking this journey with us, and we pray God blesses you as you continue your journey toward wisdom.
Journey on.
