Faith in You

DAY 2 OF 3

Surrender

When you read the Apostle Paul’s letters, he refers to Christ being life. I do not know how many of us can confidently say Christ is our life, but living with Him as our priority is the renewed, real life that God intended for us to live. He is life for us. Jesus said He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6). Believing and declaring Christ in our lives means we have eternal life with Him. Paul said to live is die and to die is gain (Philippians 1:21). We get an eternity with Christ and our brothers and sisters in Christ.

However, if you are reading this, it means you are still here on earth. We are living and breathing. Though Christ gives meaning and is our life, we still experience pain. We get tired through difficult seasons. Our hearts grow weary during hard times. We experience dark hours from time to time. Following Christ does not mean we are immune to hardships. But what I love about God’s Word is that it can be used as our manual to this life. In the Old Testament, we learn of David going through hardships. David would cry out to God just like many of us have done. Yet, he remained faithful to God. Most of David’s psalms begin with venting and crying out, but they end with praising and trusting God.

God wants us to stay faithful. He wants us to trust Him through this process. What I have learned from Paul, David, and others who suffered but stayed faithful to God is that they surrendered their life to Him.

Trusting God often means simply surrendering and handing over your situation to Him. God’s answers may look different from what you have in mind. When you surrender to Him and give Him your life, you are no longer depending on your own strength. He comes through as your strength. When you are afraid your prayers are unanswered, He comes through with His love. When you are shaken, His stronghold has you.

Surrender your life to Him and trust that He is unchanging. I have no doubt that God’s promises will come through in your life. Do not focus on the seen and earthly things. A life in Christ is setting our eyes on the unseen and on things of above (2 Corinthians 4:18). Trust that He is faithful. David says that the clouds are like flags to God’s faithfulness. So, if you ever need a reminder, just go outside and look at the sky.
