There's nothing like a family reunion. One with matching shirts, tasty food, and a group picture that barely fits all of those people in the frame! At a family reunion, everyone gets the chance to reconnect with folks they haven't seen in a long time, relatives from out of state, and family members who are the matriarchs and patriarchs of the bunch. This long-standing tradition gives everyone a chance to better understand who they are and where they belong in the family. If you don't have something like this, think of church as your weekly family reunion! Finding relatives in the faith can help give us all a sense of belonging.
This sense of belonging is woven into the fabric of our being. God not only designed us for connection but provides us with people to connect to and find common ground with. This calls for big expressions of love! No family is perfect, no one group of people is without conflict. But love helps us remember why we work toward resolution when disagreements occur. Jesus reminds us to love our enemies as the first step to reconciling with one another.
Can you love someone and not seek reconciliation?

About this Plan
“Family” is a concept understood in every country, culture, and language, but we all have unique family structures, traditions, problems, and dysfunctions. It's not always easy to love our families, but the Bible is full of guidance on how to love each other well — we just have to be willing to apply that at home. In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll discover how to do that.
