Day 17- Power In My Witness
- God’s Word
But I promise you this—the Holy Spirit will come upon you, and you will be seized with power. You will be my messengers to Jerusalem, throughout Judea, the distant provinces —even to the remotest places on earth! Acts 1:8 (TPT)
- Today’s Thought
If you are a Christian, have you ever wondered why God doesn't instantly take us to Heaven after we receive Christ into our lives as our savior if that is where we're going to spend eternity? God's rescue plan for saving a fallen and broken world caused by sin is to release those who have been rescued back into the world to help rescue others. In other words, God gives us the assignment to live our lives every day on a rescue mission so that we are His messengers of the "good news" of Jesus to a lost world. God has also given us the person of the Holy Spirit (God Himself) to live inside of us to empower us to speak and share on his behalf supernaturally. God wants us to offer the rope of hope of God's love, forgiveness, and new life to those around us.
Where do we start? In our homes, neighborhood, at school, at the gym, at the ballfields, our workplace, or wherever you're involved. God doesn't expect us to start in the most remote places on earth. He expects us to start in the places and with the people we frequently spend the most time with. When we live life on mission as God's messengers, starting with our circles of influence, our impact will have a ripple effect that has the potential and power to spread to the most remote places on earth.
We may not all be preachers, but we can all be reachers. Remember, we have been reached and rescued to reach and rescue others out of a pit of sin and despair. What a privilege and opportunity we have to join God in His rescue mission to a lost world.
As we continue to pray this prayer of blessing over family, friends, and our future, let's pray that God will give us the power to be His witness.
- My Prayer
May the LORD bless you and protect you. May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you. May the LORD show you his favor and give you his peace. Numbers 6:24-26 (NLT)
Lord, thank you for rescuing me out of my pit of despair and sin. Thank you that you have chosen me and called me to be your messenger. Today, I ask that you fill me with the awareness, passion, courage, and supernatural boldness I need to be your witness and share your message of hope to everyone you have placed on my path. Use my witness to share your good news with those around me. In Jesus' name, Amen!
About this Plan
For 20 years, Michelle's father, Dr. Rod Masteller, used "5 P's" taken from the prayer of Aaron to serve as a daily guide to pray God's blessings over his life, family, and friends. In his honor, we have written this devotional as a framework to help you focus on praying for God's provision, protection, presence, power, and peace.
