A Letter in Lockdownনমুনা
I NEED A HAT THAT FITS
Every Christmas, either an uncle, aunty, or cousin would buy me a hat, and I hated it. Every Christmas. My head is very petit. Even as a grown man, I have to shop at Pumpkin Patch or Cotton On Kids to get a hat that fits. First world problem, right? But year after year, I’d think to myself, “Why are they still buying me hats! Don’t they know me? They’re my family!” It occurred to me that they weren’t paying attention. Maybe they didn’t know me as well as they thought they did.
The more you know someone, the more you know what they want. The closer you are to someone, the more you know what their desires are.
Paul writes, “I want to know Christ – yes, to know the power of his resurrection.” You can know the power of Jesus’ resurrection. How amazing! The more you know Jesus, the more you know what HE wants. The closer you are to Jesus, the more you know what HIS desires for your life are. He knows everything about you, he created you, and he loves you! If God were to buy me a hat, it’d fit perfectly!
How well do you know Jesus? How much time do you spend each day with him? What are his desires for your life?
Challenge:
Give up something extra today to spend time with God. It could be time on social media, a video game, reading a book, or watching Netflix. Spend this time getting to know God more.
Prayer:
Jesus, I want to know you more. I want to know more of your heart, your nature, and your purpose for my life. Help me not to become distracted by things that aren’t important. I know you are the only thing that truly matters. Please give me a desire to spend more time with you and the discipline to do it.
