[Revelation] To the Church, Part 2নমুনা
Renounce Sexual Immorality
There is no way of denying that our present lives are continuously exposed to sexual immorality. Children are increasingly being exposed to it. Sexual immorality is also a matter of idolatry since one places desire as more important than obedience to the Word of God and to His Lordship. Our desires can become so strong and so binding that we can find ourselves in situations that we never expected. Our desires are basically the part of our souls that deals with our free will. Has God given us free will to engage in sin? Surely not! Sadly, we make use of our free will to sin. But thanks be to God because He gives us the victory! It is by the Spirit that we can put to death those works of the flesh, for those that have set their minds on the Spirit, have set their minds on what the Spirit desires.
If we were to renounce just one sin, that of sexual immorality, and decide to obey God’s commandment not to commit adultery or fornication, we would see a dramatical decrease in divorce. Imagine a world where everybody obeyed God’s commandments on sexual morality! There would be no rape, less child abuse, fewer abortions, no child trafficking, no broken marriages, etc. We would see such a radical decrease in crime. Imagine marriages staying together and children growing up with both parents. Look at the amazing benefits just for obeying one commandment. Sadly, we have lost the war against sexual immorality—some of us, on a personal level.
It is not late to come to Jesus in repentance to seek deliverance, forgiveness, and freedom. Only Jesus can set you free. Only He can give you the desire and the will to lead a holy life. You need help; you know you have tried before and failed. Sometimes, it is even hard to find true repentance, but the Holy Spirit can certainly convict you, convince you, and lead you to a true repentance. Remember, repentance means a change of heart and or direction.
Jesus speaks to all who have ears to hear in the church of Pergamum, offering the bread of free life. Listen to the Lord calling you. The first step to freedom is to hear Him. Only He has the words of life to set you free.
About this Plan
In Revelation 2, Jesus addresses several churches. The believers at the church of Smyrna suffered severe persecution. Trials can produce trust, endurance, and spiritual richness. The believers at the church of Pergamum were a congregation that was married to the Roman and Greek belief systems. Jesus rebuked them for sexual immorality and idolatry, yet He commended them for being faithful to Him and not denying their faith.
