Discovering True Joyনমুনা
Understanding True Joy
In today's reading Jesus compassionately feeds a crowd of at least 5,000. He then preaches that He is the bread of life, and that whoever follows Him will never go hungry for temporary things.
Many disciples said the message was too hard (John 6:60), and they walked away and abandoned Him.
In Happiness is $1.25 the traveler immediately desired the larger candy bar right after enjoying his smaller one. We’re prone to wanting the next best thing, aren’t we? But each new item or activity leaves us feeling as empty or lonely as before, like a meal that eventually leaves us hungry again.
Jesus called out the motives of the people in the crowd of 5,000. They came to Him hungry for what He could do for them. He knew they would be hungry again (spiritually) if they didn’t seek His presence instead.
Happiness lasts for a moment. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can experience enduring joy every day.
We find satisfaction when we spend time with the Lord, because He holds the ingredients for our joy! Unlike the traveler in the film, we can look at the larger candy bar and be content to walk away because we know we have all that we need through Him.
Pray and seek joy in Him today.
