I Have Questions

DAY 14 OF 20

Can we talk about cookies for a second? Yes, cookies. Fresh out of the oven, edges a little crispy, warm, chocolatey, gooey cookies. Put a plate in front of anyone who's anyone, and they would be at least a little tempted to eat every one of them, but that probably wouldn't have the best consequences. Temptation can make eating a plate of cookies in one sitting seem like a wonderful idea, without considering the stomachache, cavities, and sugar-induced headache that would result.

But of course, other (and more dangerous) things can tempt us too. We're often tempted to do things or make choices that seem appealing, until we consider the impact they would have on us or others. When we give in to those temptations, they can cause a lot of pain and sometimes even feelings of shame and isolation. Can you relate? If there is a temptation you're facing right now in your life, remember you're not alone. It might seem weird to think about, but Jesus faced temptation too — and overcame it. He can help you do the same.

What practices can you adopt to avoid giving in to temptation?

About this Plan

I Have Questions

In times of loss, grief, pain, or doubt, it’s normal to have questions. If you’ve ever tried to make sense of your circumstances, wished life didn’t have to hurt so much, or wondered why God won’t fix what you’re going through, you’re not alone. In this 4-week devotional series from the Grow Curriculum, we'll look at four big questions we're sometimes afraid to ask, and what God says about them.
