Uncommen: But Godনমুনা
But God: Reach The World
Have you ever met the perfect Christian witness?
- The spiritual gift of witnessing
- Seminary-trained
- Easy to talk to and outgoing
- Deep knowledge of theology
If you took that list and compared it to 1 Corinthians 1:27, you would miss the mark entirely. The perfect Christian witness isn't the outgoing, theologically rich person. That person could be an effective witness, certainly. However, God uses all Christians. Notably, he uses the "foolish." (1 Cor. 1:27).
Throughout scripture, we see that God saves the foolish and filthy. Why? To display His glory.
Isaiah 64:6 - "All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away."
This verse should be incredibly freeing. God is looking to use believers to grow the kingdom because it is He who does the work. He's the one who is effective in us. It's not of our own doing. Furthermore, the result of our evangelism is not of our own doing. Salvation, again, is up to God.
God can use anyone. Are you willing to be used? No excuse will suffice. God will use you if He wants (look at Moses). The Great Commission was given to disciples, who, much like us, really struggled to get the Christian life right.
Matthew 28: 19-20 - "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
He said this to everyday people (fishermen, tax collectors, doctors, etc.). You are a witness, too.
Uncommen Questions:
Do you look for excuses when you know you are called?
How can God use you?
Uncommen Challenge:
God calls us to serve Him. Will you be obedient?
